‘A LOVELY DAY’ AT URBANWORLD FILM FESTIVAL

Many amazing things are happening for A Lovely Day (ALD), the documentary chronicling the stories of youth in our Rap Therapy program! Last May, ALD premiered at the Nashville Film Festival, winning the Best Hispanic Interest Film Award and this month, it premiered at the Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City sponsored by HBO and BET networks. Our Academy interns, Niyah, Damonte, Reggie, and Shawn whose stories are featured in the documentary, went to NYC along with BRL Co-Founders, Tomas Alvarez III, Rob Jackson and filmmaker Kerri Gawryn to participate in the film festival events and Q&A.

Our interns had an amazing time as they got the chance to meet celebrities, other change makers, connect with the South Bronx branch of BRL, and tour the big city–some for the first time. Check out pictures from our NY trip and other great pictures on our Instagram page @hiphoptherapy
