HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE A VOICE TO HEAL THEMSELVES

Greetings,

Over nine years ago, a social worker and teaching artist came together to create an alternative therapeutic outlet for young men of color turned off by traditional mental health services. Fast forward to present day and Beats, Rhymes and Life has blossomed into an innovative community-based organization that is changing the field of adolescent mental health through Hip Hop Therapy. Our success has centered around a simple idea: when young people have a voice, they can help and heal themselves.

Since 2004, BRL has been creating a stage for youth to heal, grow and lead. Our work has resonated with change makers globally because we have successfully partnered with youth to forge new models and paradigms for addressing the trauma that plagues so many communities. Our success and notoriety signifies a a major shift as individuals, communities and systems search for effective tools to overcome disparities and bolster outcomes among are most marginalized youth.

This will be a historic year for Beats, Rhymes and Life and we need YOUR support more than ever. There are many ways to become a champion. The easiest and most immediate is to sign up to be a Monthly Sustainer of our work. Click here to help us achieve our goal to sign up 1,000 Monthly Sustainers by our 10-year anniversary (October 1st, 2014). I am counting on you to act. -Tomas
