Hundreds Turn Out for BRL’s Spring Showcase

BRL is extremely pleased to announce that our Spring 2013 Youth Showcase – Fresh State of Mind was a huge success! Four hundred youth, families, and community packed the Brava Theater on June 6th in support of youth in our seven Rap Therapy programs. The showcase included music, songs, and video produced by youth from Barack Obama Academy, Community Day School, NEA Community Learning Center, the BRL Academy and others.

This Spring showcase was the most well-attended showcase to date and one of the most memorable! The energy of the night was electric! We thank all who attended for sharing in the experience, supporting the hard work and progress of our youth, and participating in the creation of a Community of Care. We would also like to thank our staff for their hard work over the term, our Showcase Planning Committee, our volunteers, and our community partners.

Our biannual showcases highlight the creative works and personal achievements of youth in our 20-week Rap Therapy program which combines elements of hip hop culture in a therapeutic setting to facilitate personal transformation and development among youth. We look forward to seeing you at the next one!
